The company Borgo Paglianetto is located in the heart of the Marche region , in a valley extending between Fabriano and Camerino. Inserted in the production area of the Verdicchio di Matelica Doc, Borgo Paglianetto aims to make quality the essence of its being. The picturesque territory of Matelica preserves history, art and tradition. Grapevines are in fact part of the ancient culture of Matelica. It dates back to the pre-Roman era the discovery of hundreds of bunches of grapes given as a funeral offering during the burial of a prince warrior in the grave of Villa Clara: a statement of the culture of vine among the oldest in Italy so far.

The presence of the grape in Matelica is further documented by the discovery, during an excavation in the historic centre of the city, of numerous grape seeds connected to the remains of meals eaten in the XIV century aristocratic palaces of the town. In the heart of the production of Verdicchio, thanks to the presence of a strong clonal ancestry, Borgo Paglianetto produces a wine with a fine aromatic and phenolic charge, due to the good maturation of grapes that allows a greater accumulation, in the berries, of salts and essences which distinguish these lands.

Borgo Paglianetto, with its 25 hectares, lies on the hills of Matelica in a closed valley , the so-called Alta Valle dell' Esino, representing the only case in the Marche region for its unusual North-South orientation, fundamental factor contributing to the creation of that microclimate that allows the cultivation of grapes of the highest quality. Thanks to all these conditions it is possible to obtain a wine with a solid structure but capable, at the same time, of maintaining freshness, depth and balance. The reduction of chemical products and the low content of sulphites represent a pivotal goal for the company: the peculiarities of terroir, the climate and man's work strongly contribute to improving the quality of our wines.

The recent decision to switch from conventional to organic farming represents an important message to our consumers, since organic grapes are synonymous with a very challenging production as well as an excellent quality. The company certifies organic not only the quality of the grapes but also all the processes of wine-making and in the cellar: the constant search for quality in the environment is reflected in the quality of our wine. Every bottle wants to be a unique expression of terroir, exclusively being the result of the nature will and of our endless passion. Every activity is carried out in the full respect of vineyards and terroir: this is the world every bottle is capable of telling.
